Tools

Your assistant calls these on its own; you never have to name them. Each takes an optional language — without one, it uses your active language. The three marked Standard exist only on the Standard plan; on Free your assistant gets the other two (Plans).

Tool What it does Changes your profile?
get_language_profile Fetches your digest — known and learning words, what to introduce next, the limits. Called before the first real reply, optionally with a topic. On Free it has no topic_hint argument, and the digest lists no words to introduce. No
check_words — Standard Looks up one or a few words: their state, gloss and how many times you have seen them. For when your assistant is unsure about a specific word. No
log_exposures — Standard Records the target-language words just used in a reply — glossed, bare or inside a sentence — and that you asked what a word means or how to read it. Yes — this is what moves words towards known
update_item — Standard Records what you said about a word or grammar point: that you know it, or want it back in learning. Yes — it outweighs any number of exposures
stats How many words you know, are learning and have been introduced to, and when you were last active. For questions about your progress. No

What each kind of record does to a word is on word states; what none of them can do is on what the tools can change.

With the tools, the server sends the model standing instructions: fetch the profile before the first real reply; treat its numbers as limits; gloss learning words on first use and leave known words unglossed; never use a word the profile does not list; log every word it used after a reply that wove something; record meaning and reading questions; re-fetch only when something changed. They end on the rule that matters most: when in doubt, weave less — unreadable half-translated text is the failure, not a missed word.

The server also offers one prompt, language-mode, which turns weaving on explicitly for the rest of a conversation and attaches your current profile. Use it when replies are not being woven on their own, or to start a conversation in a particular language or on a topic. In Claude Code it is /mcp__langweave__language-mode; in claude.ai and Claude Desktop it is in the connector’s prompt menu; in Gemini CLI it is /language-mode. Other clients list it under the server’s prompts, where they expose them.

Choosing a language. You enroll, and switch the active language, in the app at app.langweave.tech. Until you have, every tool answers with a message saying so, and your assistant carries on in your own language.
